General Paz, at the head of his division, after having performed distinguished services from the commencement of the battle, made the last charge on the enemy's cavalry, and forced the Imperial army to a precipitate retreat. The enemy left more than twelve hundred dead on the field ; and among them several chiefs, officers, and General Abreu, and a great number of prisoners and arms, the whole of their baggage two standards, ten pieces of artillery. The patriots lost about five hundred men.
