Mexico. The following article, which we take from the Washington correspondence of the New York Journal of Commerce, exhibits the present coudition and prospects of Mexico. It would be the greatest possible blessing to that country to "annex" the whole of it to the Ucited States: The unhappy country of the Montezumaj is on the eve of another radical convulsion, which will probably result in the temporary ascendency of the reactionary interest and the re-establishment of the military despotism, tinder the guaranty of the Church, which "plan" waa originally attempted bylturbide, and revived by Santa Anna. The clergy and the army have combined to overthrow the present feeble provisional government, and thereby to prevent the Constitutional Cn-
gress, which u to meet on the ltli of the present month, from carrying into effect the purpose of its convocation", which is to framo a liberal Constitution, upon a plan that will re-establish lilerty and order. The Dominican War. There has seldom lwen a war more steedily and gloriously terminated than that in which the Dominicans have lately been engaged. Faustin, Emperor of llayti, assembled a negro army of near thirty thousand men, and invaded the territory of the Dominicans. He can allege no ciuise of war except a desire of coixptcdt. The Spanish and mixed rices he desired to exterminate or subject to his negro dominion.

If we can ilo nothinij else, we can give our strength to the Lest man put up hy our opponents. In all human probability tho rontest will l mainly between the Democrats ami Know Nothings. The defeat of the Kepuhlicaus in this htata l ist f ill, has m tnifeatly checked an.l diaCGurajreJ them with resjiect to the Presidential canvas; and they bavo greatly weakened thir moral power in the country and in thii State by the course they have pursued to gain the appearance of auj.remacy in Congress and iu the State Legislature. They are at a loss upon whom to decide as their standard bearer in the campaign, if indeed they have yet determined to enter into the conflict un.lor their own banner. We have no idea that they cm muster any very encouraging support to whatever man they may select. Their glory is departed, if glory ever belonged to them, and they have not a chance of success.
Must Lie, Any How. The Toledo Blade, a Fusion paper, Bays as follows : The nichmon-1 Wh'j says: If the approaching National Hindoo Convention does W rc-afhrni the l'Jth section cf the Philadelphia Platform, "the American party will cot live a day at the South," and we may dd : "If it , it will not live a day at the North." So it seems the poor thing's time is nearly come, and it ia fated to die at all events. Well, jace to ita memory.
Indiana in Motion. The sterling and invincible Democracy of Indiana have already taken the field aud '.set the ball in motion' for the 'big fight.' That eloquent young champion, A. P. Willard, is 'on the stump,' and, iiko Wise of Virginia, hi slaving tlie cohorts t.f 'S.uu' wherever he tin-Is them. Wherever he has addressed the people he haa been received with tho wildest demonstrations of enthusiasm. Changes are constantly taking place and the converts to the standard of Democracy are so numerous that it is impossible to note them. Ex-Senator Pettit has alo buckled on his armor, and is doing yeoman's service in the 'good cause.' In November next Indiana and Kentucky will stand aide by aide In tho front ranks i "f the great Democratic array. The decree has gone forth, and all the efforts of Sam and ttimlo combined cannot reverie it. Louis

A "Mi;ti:ai. Admikatiox Society." The Hons. Messrs. Lewis D. Campbell, of Ohio, and Schuyler Colfax, of Indiana, appear to have organized themselves into a "mutual admiratiou .society." Sometime ago, Campbell snubbed Colfax in tho House for a re mark of his, but Colfax not resenting the affront, Campbell took pity on him and wrote to the Indianajolis Journal, saying he didn't intend to injure Colfax'3 feelings that he consi.lered him a ereat littlo man. ic .

The Examiner. The Examiner, an exceedingly al.le and well conducted journal,
lately established in Columbia, South Carolina, under tho control of W. B. Jo:iso:rN Fs'p, in a Lite issue, pays the folloAvhig'jtt and handsome tribute to the Democracy of the North and South : ( "It is gratifying and encouraging (,y fieel this great national party cleaving to the con., stitutk-a in the midst of fanatical perversio a an.l political knavery.
