Twentieth ('entry Club

Has Guest Day

The Twentieth Century Club held its annual guest day, Thursday at the home of Mrs. H. R. Nicholas in Northwood. The decorations of summer flower- gave a festive setting for the happy occasion. The program was the original work of Xlrs. A. C. Northrop, which opened with a group of short poems, "Evening,” ‘.‘The Checkered Apron," “Let Me Lie,’’ andjg§ “Christmas Eve.” Mrs. Ben Riley, ao-; = companied by Mrs. Conrad, sang “A j jj Triology," also Mrs. Northrop’s S work. This was followed by a humor- Js ous monologue, “She Attended the == Club.” » After a short intermission, the — second part of the program was given. This was a demonstration, called, “The Bridge.” It began with a part of Vachel Linsey’s poem “The Wedding of the Rose and the Lotus,” the various departments of the Federation of Woman’s Clubs, forming the bridge, bringing the east and west together. The part of the rose was taken by Mrs. Northrop and that of the lotus by Mrs. Thomas Harris. These women, in costume, emphasized the differences of the women of the Orient and the western women.
