He eeams to think that the beat way to cultivate potatoes. DKiTnccnrt Frost. The frost which fell in tbia region on Saturday night last played havoc with the corn, sorghum and tobacco crops. The corn, which up to thai time promised to be the largost crop area produced in the county, will not, it is bow thought by intelligent formers, make oveT half a crop, most of which will to indifferent in qnality. In some fields o ljoiaing timber some of the outside rows escaped material injury, bat with this exception report say the leaves look like they had been scorched. The sorghum ond tobacco crops, from reports, must bo abont totally destroyed, except where the fields were protected by contiguous timber. All kinds of vines nearly, were badly scorched. The potatoea are not, probably, wj m-torieJly injured, as tkey bad about got tbeir growth. Buckwheat, to far aa we have beard, is totally deatroyed. Tbia is the greatest calamity that erer befel the county. Tko damage io dollars and cents cannot of course be estimated with any accuracy at present, bat it will probably exceed 9100,000.
