Scott' Communication in National frUeUigtnur, xVjc, 1844. Tho. D. Walpole, Will address the Mass Meeting at New Castle, on the 21st wist. Great Gathering of the Democracy at New Büro, N. Y A tremendous democratic gathering took place at N-wbnrg, N. Y., on Monday last. About 20,ÖO0 person were present, including delegations from the Empire and Granite Clubs of New York. Three different stands ware erected, from which the multitude were addressed by tne different speakers, among them Hon. D-tvtd A. Smalley of Vermont; Hon John A. Dtx, Hon. Mr. Smith from Connecticut, Hon. Stephen A- Douglas, Messrs. Wright Haukes, Carnes, Capt. Rynders, E E. Camp, Lorenzo B. Shepherd. Capt. Jos. A. Yard of New Jersey, (a ''brick"), Zadock Pratt, Aagus'us Soaneell (principal Cnairman), John Van Baren. John I. Momford, Gen. Walbridge, Daniel E. Sickles, John Coc-bran, and others. Wo regret that we cannot give even an abstract of tbe many eloquent speeches delivered. In the coarse of bis remarks, Mr. Douglas said, for toe first time it the hitory of this republic, one of the two parties were organizing ander ib geoernl in-chief of the American army. In the early days of the republic the people elected a citi sen soldier, who onlv drew bis sword when the nation was in danger, and only sheathed it when the invader j waa driven from our borders. It wa very different ' now, when a military chief held his office with an iron I grasp, and spent the salary ot that office in electionserins;. The greatest enthusiasm prevailed, and every assorance was given tbat tbe heart of the Empire beat strong and sonodly for Pierce and King. fXThe hundreds of Democrats who met at Corydon yesterday from ail parts of this Congressional district, expressed bat one opinion as to the prospects of the Democracy at the coming; election. Zeal and harmony prevail in oar ranks. All came with a firm determinatioe to give a cordial support to the Democratic nomine, ana will do so.
