Under the leadership of Mrs. Paul A. Batties, director, the city-wide community group initiates their work or campaign efforts each ysar for the Christmas Cheer Fund in the
summer.
Saturday the women met ot the director's residence where each brought a delicious covered dish and financial contributions which they had gleaned during the summer from personal and community friends :cnstituting a pitch-in luncheon
meeting.
Serving as chairman of the luncheon was Mrs. Chester Gardener. Sh* 1 was assisted by Mesdames Roosevelt Drane, James Grissom. Louise Haynes, Oscar Donahue and other enthusiastic members of the
organization.
Mrs. Vivian Terry Moore, me new chairman, presided at the meeting. The worship for the opening of ihe business session was conducted by Mrs. Viola Williams following devotional music by Mrs.
Earlee Combs.

All indications point out the success of the upcoming "United Notions Formal Dinner" scheduled for Tuesday night, Oct. 10, at 8:15 p. m. in Fellowship Hall of New Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Mary P. McGuire, chairman of the Business and Professional Women of the Missionary Society of New Bethel Baptist Church, and her committee have worked diligently in making this dinner one of the best attended ever

On the guest and speaker's list are names of city, state and national officials who will make an appearance at the dinner to which the public is extended an invitation to come and meet many dignitaries. Mrs. Mary P. McGuire, chairman of the dinner, announced Thursday that several foreign guests are expected to be present at the “United Nations Formal Dinner” from India, Ireland, Japan, Iran, Greece, Africa, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Indonesia, Austria and other countries.
