[Special to The Indianapolis News ] CINCINNATI, November 7.—After a chase of three and a half miles across county Deputy Sheriff Wilbur Drake captured three small children of Frank Kocher just as they were about to cross the Indiana line to go to the home of their grandfather, Frank Kocher, Sr., at Bright, where they would have been beyond the sheriff 1 s reach. The deputy was armed with a writ of habeas corpus obtained for the mother, for whom he was trying to get the children. Before he seized the children, however, the deputy was forced to calm their father with the
aid of a revolver.
The case was the culmination of a series of exciting events which began election day In the Kocher family. On that day Mrs. Kocher went to Harrison, O., several miles north of the Kocher home, located on the Ohio and Indiana State line. The following day she sued for divorce, and, accompanied by a constable, drove to the schoolhouse, three miles south of Harrison, where the three children were in attendance. When she got out of the buggy she was urprlsed to see her husband who had ridden all the way on the bank of the buggy. Applied iq Cincinnati Court. She then applied to the courts of Cincinnati and obtained a writ of habeas Corpus, which Deputy Drake and a compan- , Ion started out yesterday afternoon to ; serve. They were about to succeed, but the father asked permission to let the ' children dress. While the children were

stones. They were Just aoout to cross the State line when they were caught, fighting for their liberty like little tigers. The father urged them on In their defiance of the officers, who commanded him to be silent. He refused and the deputy pulled out his revolver. A struggle ensued, bqt the father was finally quelled. The deputy and his companions drove
