OJSs X& Al Ite many literary clnbs of the city hare tteir programmes for the coming season prepared and tneir, places for meeting elected. Tnere are in addition to the literary clubs assemblages for cards and ncins. Most of th clnbs of last winter rviains the last two pleasures will continue them, and there are a few new clubs. Tne Propykvum, wnich was the admiration of hundreds of visitors Wit week, will be the center for most of the clubs. The Assembly Hall is fine for dances and the parlors for literary and card clubs. Women's club are still in the ascendency, and it teems as if every possible subject was covered by them. There is one, how Ter. which is woefully neglected, and it is really surprising that 'it is so. This Is a cerainio club. There are artists in china who would receive great benefit in an organization of this kind. There are cities, sud even quite email towns, that have this Vind of a club, and a majority of tii era cannot begin to boast of as good or as many of them as this city. A feature of the work of the ceramioclub is a paper each time, and once or twice eaoh year an exhibition and sale of the work of the members. An invitation exhibit, is usually given at the oloseof the year. In this way the artists see eaoh other's work, and their ideas and style are broadened. The 1'ortfolio Club an hardly be said to be in the position of a rival in' any particnlar to such a club, and with tbe field and talent such a club would be an iulluence for cultivation and power.
