Tho architect waa I). L. "Whcclock, of Chicago. Sir. Joseph Peters was Superintendent and builder. Tho edifice is in ill respects a model of its kind. The interior is most complete. Tho pulpit answers to tho popular conception of "the Bacrod desk." Tho altar in front comprises a simple platform o few inches abovo the level of the floor, and tho pulpit and altar are provided with rich but plain furniture. I he grand organ stands in tho rear of tho pulpit, and occupies tho width of tho broad altar, and is ono of tho best church instruments in tho country, and cost 10,000. The pews are elegant and circle towards the pulpit. The entire floor is covered with a rich carpet of subdued pattern. A cozy gallery prans the auditorium at the front of the edifice, and extends out over the stairway and vestibule Tho auditorium is liehted with gas, radiated by means ol' double reflectors in tho ceiling. Tho entrance, hall, and ample stairways, are most elaborately finished. The lower portion of tho structure, which has been devoted to church uso for about two years, comprises a a largo lecturo and fc'abbath school room, pastor's oflico, class rooms, and tho social reunion rooms for tho congrogation on occasions of church meetings, festivals, &o. Encounter With a Catamount. A Maine man describing an encounter with a catamount in Hamilton county, Florida, sap: 1 went to a pond ono mile and a half from home, and caught a fioo mess offish. As I was leaving for homo I heard something walking on tho leaves behind mo; 1 turned and naw a largo catamount within seven feet of me, and before I could get fairly on my foet for I was sitting down ho sprang upon tho top of my head and cut a largo gash in my under lip with his teeth, and scratched my eyes with his claws so that I could not sec. 1 got my kmle out ot piy pocket and dropped it before I could open it. I soon found ho was getting tho best of tho fight and 1 jumped in to tho pond, lie thon let go ot my lip and caught me on the head. I turned over on my face and he lot go of my head and bit mo on tho neck. 1 put my head under water and ho let go of mo. 1 held my head under wa ter as long as I could and live, expect ing when I rose he would attack mo again; but ho was goue. I washed my eyes and got ono of them so I could see, took a largo stick and started for homo without molestation. Men started with guns and doga and killed him within a quarter of a milo of whero wo bad tho fight. Thus I had the great consolation of seeing my enemy dead. PuMIshluj a Newspaper Under D1D1culttes. The following curious editorial announcement appears in the White l'ino Daily Actcs, a Nevaba paper, of March 11; AroLOUETIC. At tho present writing wo are in the midst of the most terrific storm wo ever experienced. Tho atmopphero h not intensely cold, but it curb about with a rapidity, variety and industry not at all charming. Tho tin roof of tho office has gooo ou'entire, and all handa aro at work without shelter. Tho Rale is so terrific that repairs cannot bo made. and we are compelled to froeztJ it out, rrayine for an early subsidence of tha Htorm. Under tho circumstances it is ncccasarv to crave tho indulgence of our friends with the deficiencies in this issuo of the Daily News. Every man is ia his place, all industriously working to bring out some sort of a publication to keep up tho proper daily appcaraco. From the New York Times Time to Tlaj. The near opening of tho bao ball season s unrests an idea or two in ro flpect to that and other out-door sports. Lor instance, cannot raoro facilities bo granted by which our employed wnuth rnav avail themselves moro freely of such sports? Thcro woul he no reat harm, it any. mulcted on business by tho establishment of i Saturday half-holiday. In other pla ces the privilege is stated to have been conceded without any loss ol trado at all. At anv rato tho experiment ia worth a trial. Then players them selves may properly consider whether some code of play might not bo agreed upon which shall not only cover the rules of Karnes, but also somo few hints upon decorum. And lastly there is a want of some definito effort on tho ml iect or rrorer localities At present thcro is a deficiency of these, which might and should bo sup !lied. ' frno Heroism. The man who walks tho streets with unruffied brow and peaceful heart, though his business is ruined, his prospects beclouded, and his family reduced to want, who maintains his integrity amid temptations, and bravely, hopefully struggles against adversities, upborne by an unyielding faith in Providence, is a hero. And in yonder room, whero that poor, pale-faced girl, through long weary days and dreary nights, with aching eyes and wasting frame, bravely battles off the gaunt starvation, or fighting infamy with no other weapon than a trusting heart and a littlo needle There is ono of God's great heroines. The EcponsibllItIC3 of the Liver. The liver has a very Important part to perform In the animal economy. Its function Is two-fold. Tho llnld which It se cretes tempers the blood and regulates the DoweiH, anu upon the nuantliy anu quaiity of the secretions depends, In a great degree, the adaptation of the blood to the requirements of the system ana uie uuo removal of the refuse matter which re mains In tho lnteotlnes ofler the woik oi digestion has boen accomplished. One of tho principal uses of Hostetter s Stomach liltters Is to toneand control this somewhat unruly organ. Tho antlblJlous properties oi tno preparation m (secondary to Its virtues as a biomacuic. Its operation upon tne liver is u viwouk like that of mercury, but gradual and genlie. Instead of creating a sudden tumult In that sensitive gland. It regulates Its ac tion by di-srees. Hence, ll is a saje reioeuy lor bilious disorders, wniie mercury, ueiu a tremendous excitant, Is not. The more naturally and quietly a uiseaBea oro can be lefitoreu to its normni ouuumuu the better, and 11 Is the peculiar property of this harmless vegetable alterative to reinforce ami regulate without exciting or convulsing. Tho success whicn nas aiteuueu its use as a remedy tor afioctions or tne aver n i proveiblal. persona of a bilious nabit wno lake it nauituauy as a protection against the attacks to which they are con stitutionally liable, pronounce it ine doss liver tonic in existence, mo symptoms of an approaching tit of blllonsaens can hardlv be mistaken. A pain lu the right side or under the shoulder blades, a saffron tinge In the whites of the eyes, sick headache, a feeling of drowsiness, low spirits, loss of appetite, constipation and general debility are arnonq; tho usual Indications of a morbid condition of the liver, and as soon as they appear the Bitters should be resorted to In order to ward olT more fcerious consequences. Consumption. The Three Remedies. "Bchkscu's Pnimonio BvaUF," for the cure of Coughs, Colds, Bronchitis, and every form or consumption. The peculiar action of this medicine ripens the ulcers In the lungs, promotes the Ulachargo of tho corrupt matter by expectoration. Purines the blood, and thus cures Consumption, when every other remedy falls. "Bchenck's Boa-Weed Tonic" for the cure of Dyspepsia or Indigestion, and all diseases arising from debility. This tonio invigorates the digestive organs, supplies the place of the gastric Juice when that la deficient, and thtn enables the patient to digest the most nutrlolous food. It Is a sovereign remedy for all cases of indigestion. t i " Bcueuck's Maudrako Pills," one of' the mofct valuable medicines ever discovered, being a vegetable substitute for calomel, and having all the useful properties ascribed to that mineral, without producing any of Its injurious effects. To these three medicines Dr. J. II Hcheuck, of Phliadelp ila, owes his unrivaled suocess in the Treatment of Pulmonic Consumption. The PulmonlcSyrup ripens tho morbid matter, discharges It, and purifies the blood. The Mandrake Pills act upon the liver, remove all obstructions therefrom, give the organ a healthy tone, and cure Liver Complaint, which is one of the most prominent causes of Consumption. Tho Bea-Weed Tonic Invigorates the powers of the stomach, aud by strengthening the digestion and bringing It to a normal aud healthy condition, Improves the quality of the blood, by which means the formation of ulcers or tubercles in the lungs becomes Impossible. The combined action of hme medicines, aa thus explained, w I cure every case of Consumption, If ther tnedles are used In time and the use of the Is porsevered In sufficiently to bring the ctt -e to a favorable termination.
