Agreeable to a call signed by a number of the most influential citizens, a large and most enthusiastic meeting assembled in the Merchants’ Exchange this evening, with reference to the Erie rioters. The meeting was addresed by the Hon. Thomas Corwin and others, after which a aerie* of strong resolutions were adonted, deprecating the proceedings of the people of Erie, and the action of the Governor of Pennsylvania, who sympathizes with and encourages the rioters in their defiance of the mandates of the courts, as well as the honor of the country.
