ship but two beiog represented. We were,
however, somewhat disappointed in not see
ing more of our wealthy men frofe the city,
present Some of these gentlemen seem to
act upon tbe presumption that their rights
and privileges most be defended on tbe field,
and their property protected by the soldier
in arc*, without tcey, themselves, taking the
least interest in it, or opening their pockets
to, in any way, assist. We tell theie gentie-
men that they mistake their true policy, and
are faet arraying prejudice against them,
which may, in the end, sweep the last veetige
of property frota them. This rebellion most
be conquered—-and it requires all the re
sources of the countiy to do it—or the rebel
hordes will sweep over this very prairie and
leave iu their wake Bathing but ruin and do-
