The bonnet is calledthe "'Night Bloom* inr Cereus," and so far bb we have been able to find out is the only one in the city.— It is of the fineet white chip, exquisetly beautiful, and trimmed on the outside, with a Coquet of rare and beautiful "Night Blooming Cereus." The flower is made of threads of pearl and white silk, sprinkled over with dewdrops, so natural as to deceive the most practical eye at first Bight. It is fastened to the bonnet with a pearl, clasp curtain of white blonde, face trimmings white star flowers set in illussion and strings of white ribbon.

The weather continues moat unpropitioua for early vegetation. Cold and rain have thus far predominated this spring with an occasional gleam of sunshine and vernal breezes. Farming is also backward. CHURCH MUSIC —How often have we in a high emotional state, given out a hymn that cxactly suited the case, when the choir would sing it in an unfamiliar out of-the way, aod ridiculously 'artistic' tuue, thus plucking every feather from the wings of our devevotion, and plungirg us into the ditch.--Such performers have no sympathy with what they Bing, but only with some preverse ideal of artistic harmony, which is as inappropriate as a dancing tune at a funeral.— They kill church music under the absurd idea of perfecting it."
N.. Y. Chtonicle.
The editor of Lafayette Journal says that is true. He once heard a first class choir do up" a hymn in a fashionable church in Buffalo, under the stimulous of a big salary. It was really amusing. The leading soprano voice waB also quite prominent at the Metropolitan Theatre the evening before. The one hundred and thirty third psalm waR announced by the minister, which reads in part thus "True love la like that precious oil,
Which poured on Aarou'is head. Ran down hU beard, and o'«r bis rehes. It* co»tly mol»lure shed." He says this is the way the choir did the hymn up. He lost the first two flues in

It was in fact supremely ridiculous.
OwKOi-ootCAL —Tba Paalmiit says that man i9 "fearfully and wonderfully made," but in order to fully understand the import of this declaration it is necessary to read Prof. HCXLBI'S description of the mechanism of the human haod. Speaki.7g,of the osseous frame work, consisting of carpus, metacarpus and phalanges, he observes:
They might be divided into a radical, tridigi al series of bones, including the scaphoid, lunar, trapezoid, trapezium and magnum and an ulnar bidigi&l series, 'acluding the cuneiform andfunciform. The piriform he regarded ns the sesamoid bone of a muscle. He then showed the articuiatiou of the metacarpal £bone of the poiiex or thumb, with the carpus, formed when the band was placed ou *a fiat surface, both horozontically and vertically, considering angies *ith the plane of articulation of the other metacarpal bones. These were characterized as the "digital" and "palmer angulations" of the joint and it was further demoustrated that, to the direction and form of the articular facet of the trapezium, the thumb ot man owed it. peculiar epposability.
