A Mystery. «r

A. P. Overbay, who lives oh the Jerry Busenbark farm, south east of Attica, was much puzzled last Friday morning when he noticed that the sod had been removed from a

S

pot in his yard within thirty feet of the house and that a hole had apparently been dug there near the roots of an o\d peach tree. The dirt had been thrown back leaving a very grave like mound and after summoning a neighbor, he dug down to see what had been buried there, nothing was found but the size of {the cavity was noted from the undisturbed earth. Jt was about three feet long by two wide and was about three feet deep. The soil was thrown back and if the sod had been replaced he would not known that any one had dug there. He tried to find tracks but the grass hid all traces of footsteps and no clew was left of who it was or of what they were seeking. The house is an old one and has been occupied by the

Busenbark family for the past forty years, until the death of Mr. Busenbark a few years ago. As far as known there has been no mystery connected with the home and Mr. Overbay and his neighbors are racking their brains for a solution of the mystery. The digging was done sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning but the family heard nothing, as they slept up stairs and there are no windows in that end of the house nearest the spot disturbed. The matter has caused much speculation among the friends and neighbors of Mr. Overbay and they would like very much to know what it all means.—• Attica Press.

Dr. W. J. Hurt received a letter the first of the week from Dr. J. S. Ciaypool at Pine Village, where he located a few weeks since, in which he says they like the town so far very well, and thus far business has been good for the time he has been located there. Sunday night while they were at church, a lamp which they left burning in their home, exploded and only by being discovered at the proper time and bv quick work was the home saved from being burned.

W. S. Fowler, who has been 'attending the Indianapolis School of Veterinary, returned home Friday of last week after taking final examination for graduation on Thursday. Mr. Fowler passed the examination and is one of a class of thirtythree who received their diplomas of graduation Wednesday evening at the graduating exereises of the school. You may now write it W. S. Fowler, V. M. D. and he justly deserves the title hard work and study has given him. You will find his card elsewhere in this issue.
