Making In all $6,974 91 Which deducted from the cash on hand leave* $3,148 77 Os former delinquencies and ofthe revenue of 1829, there will probably be paid during the financial year, the sum of $28,500 00 which wifi make in all $31,648 77 to meet the eurrerit expenses ofthe year. The expenditures dnriiis: the ensuing year may be estimated at s3t‘,oQo which will leu vein the treasury on the first of December 1830, $648 77 The state revenue from the year 1822 to this time, has arisen almost entirely ffOm the tax on polls and land. Daring this period the'taxable polls have increased from 28,500 to 48.500, and the taxable land from 1,874,710 acres, lo 3,695,177 acres. The increase was much laiger in tbeyears 1822 and 18*4 than any which have suc T ceeded them, as may be seta from The following table of actual receipts, calculating the revenue at the present rates. Rec’ts for year 1822*. $17,400 00 do do do 1823, 20.31600 do do do 1824, 22,83400 do do do 1825 24,395 00 do do do 1826 25,635 00 do do do 1827 27.091 98 do do do 1828 29,721 18 do do do 1829 estimate 31.500 90 Judging from the past, the revenue of the state can hardly be expected to increase more than from fifteen to eighteen hundred dollars per annum. The increase in expenditures during the last seven years has been pnncifmlly in the following items; Legislative and printing, about SSOOO 00 Probate Judges and wolf scalp bounties, 3,600 00 Making $8,500 00 Newr occasions of expenditure'Will probably arise in the judiciary and other departments, so that a considerable Surplus revenue is not soon to be expected.
