On Friday the 24th ult. Russell
was killed by Hugh Monroe, on Ulue Uiver,
in uud County, Indiana. From what we
ave been able to learn, it appears that
this calamitous afiair occurred at a lor ro

the infliction of a blow on the head ofltus-
ell with the breech of a gun. by Monroe.
ri.e stroke broke the skull of Tu'sell, and
he expired early the next mornng. The
murderer was apprehended and is lodged

It is with feelings of horror, tlat we re

they are for the her. tit of the countr) or not. If their measures are good sup
port them cordially; if riot, all vvS view them in that light will reprehend
them. 1 here should be no obstacle
thrown in the way of General Jackson as President, nor should his acts before
elected be brought against him as the
ruler of the American people. We op

moderation and vigilance be the watch

go unrewarded by praise, and let none
that are injurious to the public inter eits escape without appropriate ceu sure. Our country is every thing to
