He was a native of Coventry, Connecticut, to youth he be came deeply impressed by le tilths of religion, and felt urged to devote his life to preaching the Gospel in various paTts of the world. He travelled extensively in England and Ireland, and visited every portion of the United States. He was a Methodist in principle, and though not in , connexion, was held in esteem by the members of that society.
