I have, been authorised to say, that Samuel F.inisori, will be a candidate for the legislature, it the Aunst election. Hl.NRY M. SHAW, a candidate for 'the Senate of this stale, woula be pleased to meet bis fellow citizens in the court bouse to-day at 1 o'clock, tor the purpose of addressing them in relation to sonrc subjects connoted with state policy. Vineennes, March i, lSoo. UEMOVAL OF Tllli INDIANS. There is no subject, in which the people of this country are so deeply inter tsttd. as the removal ol ths Indian Eey day convinces us more and more l the nccesuy ot their removal beyond tlfe ettlelntnts of lhe whites. These people are o. what they used to be. The time was when they were seber, honest and industrious; but since their intercourse with the whites, they have become dissipated, dishonest and idle. With few exceptions, they have given up! their hunting, snd ina'ead oigiviag chase to the deer, they are found lounging about our villages, selling or pawning their knives, guas aiid biaokets for whis key; and hence they urc ftce.d either to ttatve or steal. Notwithstanding the diligence of Gen. TvlarsUatl, Hieir Agent, and we are satis ficd no man could do more than he has done to prevent every thing which would likely lead to collission between the Indians ami the whites, these prowling, miserable creatures are constantly committing depredations upon the piopcity uf our citi7.ens. We were inlormcd by an industrious farmer, who resides near this place, a few d.iys since, that they had killed something near J00 head ol h'gs belonging to him; and this is not the only case, depredations of a similar UinJ are constantly committed. What these things may lead to, w e arc unab4e j to say but wc have reason to fear, they I wili result in unpleasant consequences.- j We do sinceicly hope that the general! government will adopt such measures as will bring about the removal of t tic Indians. Justice to the citizens, and to the Indians themselves, lequires that something should be done. Cass Ccunty 1 inics. 1? y ?n Indian who arrived from the nortin west, a fewdavs since, wc are inlormcd that the Indians in that quarter are for war great preparations a;e making, and it is supposed they intend an attack early in the spring. It is thought that some of the Fotiarratamies wilt take p3rt with the hostile parly. The Winnebagoes have refused to join them, and we undwan:! a deputation from that tiibc will visit this place shojtly. lb.
