Military Ytsierday,at tl o'clock, (says i he i crrc Haute Register, of June 2nd,) one hundred of our lellow citizens kit this place for the upper country, to act in concert with f iner military detachments in protecting our exposed frontier. On Tuesday last an oider reached this place from the Executive, conveying a requisition for the above numl:er, with instructions 10 proceed to Lafaycite, and there await such orders ss the exigencies of the occasion may suggest. In a few hours after the receipt cf this order, the whole number was Trade up, a fact that speaks loudly lor their patriotism and public spirit. May success attend them! From the Army. We learn, (says the Springfield Illinois Herald, ot May 31,) from several of the Volunteers from this place, who have returned, that the mounted men under General Whiteside, are disbanded, and that most of them arc on their way home. This measure has been adopted in consequence of the difficulty in obtaining provisions, and of cooperating advantageously with the footmen. The infanttv under General
A'kinson have descended Rock River. The Indians are divided into several pa tie?, which enables them to act with more facility, and rendeis a pursuit of them, by a large b-dy of men, unavailingBy their trails, most of them are supposed to have returned to Rock Ri er, and that the remainder have ascend ed Fox River. A detachment of the Volunteers will remain at Ottawa, to
, rjuatd the frontier, till the arrival o! those who are now on their way from the eastern and southern counties. From present appearances, there is a prospect of a protracted campaign, the Indians Mill retaining their foothold in the State, and their movements being conducted with gteat caution and secrecy gLil" .
