Friday t jSprxl 20. In the Senate yesterday, a message was received from the Prf.sidknt, transmitting printed copies ol each ot the Treaties, concluded with the Indian Tribes. The Genera! Appropriation Hill was taken up. The amendments already adopted in the Committee ot the Whole beinp under consideration. The amendment increasing the allowance for contingent expense of the Land Office from 89,000 to g 1 3,000 was opposed, and the question on concurrence in it being taken, it was decided in the affirmative by a vote of 21 to 18. The amendment striking out the appropriation for the outfit of a Minister to Fiance was objected to by Mr. Smith, and a discussion in ielalion to the expenses of diplomatic intercourse, in this and former administrations, arose, in which Messrs. Smith Foot, Hayne, Webster, Forsyth, and Mangum took part. The discussion w as broken off by an adjournment. In the House of Representatives, Mr. Plumroer continued his remarks until the expiration of the hour allotted to morning business, in favor of the Report of the Committee on the Judiciary, asking to be discharged from the further consideration of the charges made against the Collector of the port of Wiscasset. Mr. Conner offered again the resolution vhich he withdrew on Wednesday, directing that Gen. Houston be discharged from custody upon bail. Mr. T. R. JNIitchell moved an amendment discharging the accused from custody, without bail. This motion was opposed by Mr. Dickson. At the request ot Mr. Speight, lr. Mitchell withdrew his amendment, and the resolution of Mr. Connor was laid on the table for the present. General Houston and his counsel (Mr. Key. were then introduced into the House by the Sergeant at Arms. After being en r i .a o i t . i t I quired of by the Speaker whether he was Virmr t n rs a ir 11 L nip mii ?i t f r r seady to proceed with his trial, which he answered in the affirmative, Mr. Coulter, tlhe Chairman of the Committee of Managers on the part of the House, requested that the Hon. Mr. Stanberry might be sworn. He was accordingly fcworn by the Speaker. Interrogatories were propounded on the part of the Managers, to which he replied giving a detailed account of the occurrences between him oelfandGen Houston. After responding to the questions put by the Managers. Ir. Key, in behalf of the accused, requested the attendance of certain members of the Senate as witnesses. A message was accordingly sent to the Senate requesting their attendance. Messrs. vii unuy, joucKner, i ipion ano lowing soon afterwards made their appearance I and took their seats as assigned them on i the floor of the House. Certain inter - "! t rogatories were then propounded on be fralf cf the accused to Mr. Stanberry. After they were answered, a question arosc cn an objection to an interrogatory proposed by the counsel of the accused, which was made by Mr. Dickson, and was argued by ihat gentleman and the counsel for tbe accused. The question j was taken by Yeas and Nays, and theob jection was overruled by the House Yeas 101, Nays 82. An objection arose upon a collateral matter involved by tbe answer to the interregaory which had been sustained by the House, which gave rise to a discussion, which continued till viearly five oclock, when the whole subject was, on motion of Mr. S. Condict, postponed until this day 12 o'clock. The House then adjourned. Saturday, Jpiril 21. Tn the Senate, yesterday, a message was received from the President trans mitting the inctructiens and corrcspon dence relating to the Colonial Trade, not heretofore communicated. A resolution, submitted by Mr. Ruckner, calling upon the Secretary of the Treasury for certain j information relative to the. public lands, was agreed to. Mr. Ilcr.dricks laid on the table a motion to re-consider the vote, ordering to a third reading, the bill providing for the vaccination of the In dians. The Appropriation Rill was taken up the question being on concurring in the amendment, adopted m the Committee of the Whole, striking cut the appropriation for an outfit of a Minister to Trance. The discussion cf this question was continued by Messrs. Chambers, Clayton, Fcrsyth, Hajec, Tazftvfll, Webster, Smith and Miller, till four o'clock, when the Senate adjourned to meet on Monday.
