Conspiracy at Paius The London Standard ot January 7, says: We have received by special express, the Paris papers of Thursday, which bring us a detailed account of the conspiracy to which we biiefly alluded yesterday. The ministerial journals, from one of which we select an aiticlc giving a statement of the affair, maintian that it was excited by the Carlists, and fostered by money sent from Holyrood House; but the proclamation, which was found with the conspirators, is jacobin in its

genera,! outline, complaining of non inter vention in Italy, the surrender of Belgium to England, tec. U.C. The overt acts of the conspiracy were very absurd. They were confined to seizing on the belfry at Notre Dame, by eight people; ringing the great bell as a tocsin, and attempting to set fire to one of the towers as a signal. The men were almost immediately

seized, only one escaping. We conlcss that we doub the Carlism of the p!ot. (From our correspondent.-half fiast 7 ) London, Saturday. Jan. 7. Business at the Stock Exchange has been almost wholly superseded to day,

In the first page of this day's paper, I have collected the several statements of thf mvagfs committed by the late flood in the Ohio river. Since it was in type, I b ivc received the Palladium, printed in Lawrencehuriih; speaking of the remarks cf other Editors, he concludes by saying "Our c hurch has no steeple upon it, and th-j '-few houses" which were here before the iiood, are here still." Although the town suliercd, the accounts of it hau bceti much exaggerated. Bv the politeness of our attentive and industrious Representative, I am enabled ti Jay before the readers of the Sun, the following important bill: Mit. Boox, from the Committee on Public Lands, reported the follow ing bill, which vas twice read, and committed to a committee of the whole house on the tate of the Union. A BILL to graduate and reduce the price

of the Public Lands. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That from and after the first day of July next, all the public lauds of the U. States w hich have been, or may hereafter be oflcred at

Kiiblic sale to the highest bidder, and shall ! cupy the general attention out of doors,

rcmai'i unsold for a period of five years

ha;l be subject to sale by private entry at seventy-five cents per acre See! i?. And be it further enacted. That all the public lands of the U. States which have been, or may hereafter be offered at

public sale to the highest bidder, and shall remain unsold for a period of ten years, shall be subject to sale by private entry, at fifty cents per acre. In pursuance of public notice, a meeting of the Delegates from the different Townships in this county, took place at the court house, in Vincennes, on the 5th of March, 1832, for the purpose of selecting a candidate friendly to the present administration, to represent Knox county in the state Legislature, when John Moore was called to the Chair, and William J. Heberd, appointed Secretary. The following

ing gentlcmen appeared, and took their Seats as Delegates. From Busseron Township - Michael Wiles, George Clark, John MeCarty, Samuel Moore, John W. Allen, John Sprott, jr. and Peter Wiles. From Johnron Township - George Catt, Henry Turbett, Thomas Small, James S. Mays, Thomas Johnson, Isaac Mahl, Agraham Barkman, John Devour, Randel C. Morgan, and John Roderick. From Decker Township - John Ram-

hey, Thomas Kelly and Sparling Young.

The object of the meeting being stated

the Chair, and Messrs. Henry P. Bro-

sey,

was the probable extent of the increase

meditated in the peerage. Some disap-

pointment was felt at the non appearance

of any positive announcement on the subject, the very mention of which has a

wakened all the original interest attached

to the reform question which its enemies

would willingly, if they could, affirm to

be dying away for the second time. It would be idle to put forth the conjectures

afloat in the city, with respect to the

number of new creations, and they are only worth referring to, to show that men's minds in the city are as excitable

and as ardent as ever on that subject.

Distress of the Working Classes - The

distress which prevails in Worcester,

and which must be ascribed to the free importation of foreign manufactured

gloves, is truly appalling! Thousands

are now at the door of starvation! - meetings have been held - petitions have been drawn up, ar.d subscrptions have been

entered into - for their relief. Now all this is very well, but nothing so effectually relieves a starving people as to supply them the means of contributing to themselves. It appears from calculation, made at a recent meeting, that from January 1st to

November 30, last year, 1,014,456 pairs

of foreign manufactured gloves were imported from France! This alone was sufficient to cause a stagnation in the trade, but, when we consider that the above number is not above one-fourth of what have been smuggled over during that period, we wonder that there is such a thing as a glove trade in England at all. Really the state ol England, from one

end to the other, continues to be most al-

arming and unhappy, without the pros-

pect of an improvement; for it appears

that no plan is to be adopted for the effectual amelioration of the sufferers. From the London Age, of January 8. LATEST NEWS PARISIAN CONSPIRACY.

We hear also that Austria and Prutsia decline to guarantee the annual payment by Belgium of the eight mil lions lour hundred thousand guilders as their portion of the interest of the debt, on the ground of such a guar.mce implying a doubt of the integrity of King Leopold. Should these modifications be adopted, an extension of time must take place to enable the panics to complete the Treaty, or rather the Convention, for such would be its rrew character. It appears by the private correspondence of the Journal du Havre, that the
