The alarm was given about 11 o'clock last night. The fire commenced m the upper part of a o story building, on the west side of Mul berry street, owned by Philader Judson, and had made very little progres when discovered, but tor want of efficient means, it was found impossible to con trol it. The only remedy was to save as much property as possible, and confine the fire to the square where it originated It soon consumed every building on that square, on Mu berry street, and a dwelling-house on fourth street, where ano

ther was pulled down, which prevented further progress in that direction. In the other, the fire was stopped at the corner cf third st. (a considerable space intervening betwen the buildings ) The buildings to the alley, which divides the fquare in the middle from third tofoutth streets, except the office of 'Tracy and Pmtler, were either consumed or pulled down. (J f eat industry was necessary to prevent t't five trom crossing Mulberry btirct, which was effected by the active exertions of a few of our chizens, whom.
