of which he consented again to enter on public life. U is therefore wiih high satisfaction, that wc sec the Democracy of the great State of Pennsylvania, which in 1824, and again in 1326 and in 1827, expressed their confidence in his qualifications for the high office to which he has been called, rallying through the same acknowledged organs in defence of his administration. The langmgc oT the resolutions before us is alike creditable to the patriot to whom they relate and to the source Irom which they proceed. Gen. Jackson was the candidate of the people; to them he has committed a reputation which, hud not his name been placed hetore the public for the Presidency, would
have become too hallowed for detraction; to
them belong the prerogative of defending it aai ist th assaults of unholy ambition. TlinsP iv'ift lffl on the battle, stood firm in
the outset, never failed in the heat ot the day, nor rested until victory was proclaimed, have a just right to stand foremost in calling him
airain into their service; and wc avail our
selves of the present occasion to repeat, what we have before said, that, at the it call, upon a full survey of his duty to his country, Gen
eral Jackson will, when, in his opinion, the
proper time has arrived, make known his de
termination with that candor which has at all times characterized his public and his private life; for in their hands his reputation and the great interests of the republican party are safely deposited. FROM CHILI. PALTIMORE, APRIL 8.

It is rather a difficult matter to gather from the papers a distinct conception of the ostensible causes of the revolution although it is sufficiently apparent that, like almost all of the intestine commotions of South America, it owes its rise to the machinations of factious demagogues Geueral Prieto, who had obtained the command of the aimy cf Santiago; see.ns to have been the original mover of the troubles othich have taken place.
