returning, in any such instance, shall be chargeable on such occasions with any such toll. Sec. 13. That when said road is completed, or such parts thereof, from time to time as aforesaid, and the same shall have been examined proved and licensed, in manner aforesaid, it shall and may be lawful for the board of managers to appoint such and so many toll gatherers, as they may think proper, to collect and receive of, and from every person or persons using the road, the toll rates herein mentioned. The undersigned commissioners appointed under said act lor the county of Knox, having no opportunity to consult their associates, without delaying this advertisdment, would respectfully refer to the act published in the Western Sun, and call' the immediate attention of the pub'ic, not only to the general advantage of the work in view, but also to the favorable terms upon which a most profitable stock may now be procured. It is believed the line of turnpike will soon be provided for west, to St. Louis, and that the present Congress have donated g36000 to its accomplishment. To property holders, on or nrar its line, and the patriotism that looks to the prosperity of the country, the Commissioners need give r.o additional invitation to attend at the places and times specified.
