and this army which now presents itself, is ! the vanguard of the great expedition which she has prepared as the result of her arduous labors. It is the last attempt which will be made by that imbecile nation to deprive us cf independence. Soldiers! These perfidious men provokes us to an encounter. They will find, to their sorrow, that you do not shrink from this, but that you are already on the march to accept the challenge. They threaten you with death; but the sharp edge of your swords will infallibly cause them to perish by hundreds, and to bite the soil which they have dared to profane; insomuch that not an individualwill remain to witness the destruction which Ihjir rash enterprise has merited.

My Friends! A delightful field of glory

opens before us, in which we will gather new laurel, valor and constancy; decipline, subordination and order. Such qualities as these cannot deceive us. Always remember that yqu-fight for Independence and Liberty; and letNthose dear names urge you to combat wtvhxdoublc ardor, till the triumph is achicvtr lhat it will be achieved, who can doubt? Soldiers! It is better to dieto die a thousand deaths if possible than to suffer the

hard yoke of oppression, which these tyrants

seek to impose

to what is called pofheness. I see women every dayour of rr.;rc:,aj they say, to their husbands tricked out with better dress, with better looks, and with better humour, to receive strangers, than to receive a husband the rogues persuading the good, easy fool, when they give other men a cleaner tablecloth and a better dinner, that they doit out of love and respect for Aim

Abominable 1 They treat the lord of their affections, the partner cf their bed, the father of their children, worse than any other man. they do indeed there's no denying it. 'Tis all a wicked, prolligatc, cold-hearted lie, and they know it. They call it hospitali ty. Woiseand worse. Hospitality is not ostentation. Hospitality is simple and sincere. No, they want to please a stranger, to deceive him, even for an hour, to appear better off in the w orld, richer and more comfortable than they really ate. They arc secretly tired of home, of that plain, quiet, comlortahle, beautiful decency, which makes home so dear to man. Such women arc sure to be sluts &

hypociitcs, just in proportion to the difference they make between their household and the world, the stranger and the husband. They go slip shod about the house, their caps

Judging from the enthu v.-Asm manifested in the papers, the Spanijiis have met with no favorable reception at their landing, as has been reported at Havana. The landing was effected at Cabc Rajo. Indianapolis, 20th. Aug. 1 829. Solomon A Ian waring, Esq.
