THE W Eh TERN SUN

7IA'CEjVMES notemder 15, 1828

The Presidential election in this state has closed and enough has been heard to enable me to state, that the five Jackson electors have been elected by a majority exceeding three thousand votes. In the upper part of ((District, the voters were attempted to be imposed upon by tickets, headed 44 Jackson electral ticket," with the names ot three admimsti ation, and two Jackson electors on them Had " Jehu Gosnel any thing to do in this business ? Missouri, and Illinois have elected Jack son electors by overwhelming majorizes Judging by the teturns received from Onto and Kentucky, but little doubt is entertained of the success of the Jackson ticket in each of those stales. Of the vote of Louisiana, I have never much doui.ted, and should it go for Jackson, M. Adams will not receive a single electoral vote west of the mountains The loner and bitter contest is over, and I

rejoice in the hope of the return of peace and j

harmony among; all classes, and paUies. Morgan. It was mentioned some time ago, mat capt Mo; gun had been seen m the Turkish dominions, but it was sup,..cs. d to have been a mere fiction, or joke ot the person who narrated the circumstance. By ihe following article, from the B asn n Palladium, it appears there was mo: c foundation ior the story than was at first inagin. d, k that these is every probability Morgan is now in some part of Turkey. We nope such may turn out to be the fact, and that it may soon be sun stamiated in a way to allay the very great .s citement nroduccd in the state ot New Yoi k

by his supposed murder Bait Gat FROM THE BOSTON IWLLADIUrl. Captain Morgan. We should not mention the name of this individual, had we not been informed yesterday, by a gentleman en titled to the most'entire confidence that captain Waterman, of l)uxbury,a gentleman ot undoubted respectability and veracity, who commanded the btig Herald, in his last voy age from Boston to Smyrna, is fully convinc ed in his own mind, that he carried William Morgan as a passenger. The gentleman who has give 1 us captain Waterman's opinion on this subject, is Sir. Job W. Tvler, of this ei ty, whosai-ed with captain Waterman, on his net voyage, as first ofneer of the Ilera.d Captain Waterman, at that timr, often mentioned the subject to Mr. Tyler, and has since expressed his sincere conviction tha Morgan was his passenger.

Advice to yfrg mm Ever carry about

with you such aense of the uncertainty o! every thing in thilife, anil of life itself, as to put nothing ofT till to-morrow, w hich you can conveniently do today. Dilatory persons are frequently exposed to surpt isc and hurry in every thing that belongs to them The time is come, and they arc unprepared Let the concerns of your soul and your shop, y-v. r religion and your business, lie always in such order, as far as possible, that death, at a shm t "warning, may be nonrcsion of a disquieting

tumult in your spirit, r.nd that you escapethe anguish of a bitter repentance in a dying hour farcwcl. Phrocimns, a considerable Eastland mer chant, happened upon a copy of these an i cs about the time he permitted his son 'o ron mence a partnership with lrm h his tadc; he transcribed them with his o n hand, an made a present of them to the youth, together with the articles of partnership Here young man, said he, is a paper o! more worth than these articles Read it over once a month, till it is wrought in your very soul k tembcr. Walk by these rules, and I can trust my estate in your hands, opy ou these counsels in vour life, and you will make me and yourself happy.

Cunning of the Fox At thcGoUlen Bear Inn. Reading, a young Fvx had a few years since been taught to go into the wheel and tui n thi jack. After he had thus officiated for some time, he escaped, and regained his native woods. Here he met the fate common to his species, he was pursued by the hounds and in his flight ran through the town of Ilea ling, reached the Inn, and springing over the half doorof the kitchen, jumped imo the wheel, and resumed his occupation, in the very place where he had been brought up, by which means he saved his life.
