Mr. Noble presented resolutions of the Lcgisla'uic ol Indiana, instructing the Senators, and requesting the Representatives in congress ho n trut state, to use their endeavors to ptocurc the passage of a law appropriating a sufficient quantity or the public lands to enable the state to raise funds adequate to the construction of a permanent road, with suitable bridges and causeways, from Louisville, in Kentucky! through Indiana and Illinois, to-St. Louis, in Missouri; and also

to invite the co-operation of the senators and representatives of the states of Kentucky, Il

linois. and Missouri, to effect that object.

time of payment on all lands now forfeited, or arc liable to be forfeited, Sc to authorise each

and every purchaser whose lands are either forfeited, or arc liable to forfeiture, to redeem

the same on making prompt payment there

for, at a price the amount of which, including

Forfeited payments, shall not exceed the mi

nimum price of congress lands; and also the

passage of a law giving to every purchase!

Ordered That so much of the resolution as relates to the encouragement of domestic ma nufactures be referred to the committee on Roads and Canals, and to be printed. Public Lands The bill to graduate the price of Public Lands, to make donations to actual settlers, and to cede the refuse lands l' the states in which they lie, for the purposes of Education and Internal Improvement, be ing under consideration, Mr. Hknmucks offered the following as a substiiuic: 41 That the public and unappropriated landTrithin the limits of the new states shall be, and the same and hereby, ceded Sc relinquish cd, in full property, to the several stales in "Which they lie, on condition that such states shall not at any time hereafter, put such lands into market at a lower minimum price, than shall be established by law for the sale of the public lands in the territories, and on condi tion that the Indian titles of lands within the limits of any state shali hereafter be extin guished at the expense of such vatc," Mr Hendricks accompanied his proposition with a speech of considerr.b e length, Sc of able argument.
