In the first page of this days paper, I have copied "an article from the Cincinna

ti Gazette, purporting to be a copy of !

proceedings had in the case of a divorce of Lewis Roberts, from his wife Rachel, j

the present wiie ot gen Jackson, anu followed it with an article from the Nashville Republican, together with some certificates and affidavits from the Frankfort Argus, in justification of the general. To enable the people, to form a correct opinion upon this subject, I have giTen both sides. The sale of the relinquished lands in this state will take place at Jeffersonville, on the second Monday in July next, and in this place, on the fourth Monday of the same month. Bv the arrival at Philadelphia of the

Packet ship Alexander, from Liverpool, London papers have been received to the 8th Mat ch. W c give below the most im portant items of intelligence : Greece The Greeks have again been Victorious. The following is an extract from the General Gazette of Greece, of 15th, (27th Dec ) 1826. This moment a letter has arrived from the Commander-in-chief. Karaiskaki, in which he writes, that, on the 7th (19th) instant, a Pacha and a Bey, with 1 500 men, came against cur forces at Velitza ; but, after an obstinate engagement, they were put to flight, and drtvrn, with severe loss, as far as Burdunitza. The victosy is of great importance. We took nearly a thousand mules, laden with provisions, amunilion, Coffee, sugar, and other objects and our troops enriched them selves greatly. The terror of the enemy is unexampled. The General has erected a pyriinid of heads at Velitza and Rochovo Continental Gicece is now certainly free from enemies. " In a letter dated Brussels, March 4, it is mentioned, that news had been received there from Napoli di Romania, down to the 2 1st of January. The accouirs arc however, confused, and nof easily intelli giblc. It does not appear that any thing of great importance had occurred. Turk cy Accounts from Constantinople state, that the news from Greece was still unfavorable to the Porte. U is said that Ibrahim has received orders to go to the assistance of the Scraskier. The Turkish Government had discovcicd a new conspiracy. The ramifications were very extensive, and for the last 15 days executions and banishments have re commenced with more severity than ever.

Canadian affairs The following article, which wc copy from the Yoik (Up per Canada) Freeman, of the Sih vi it shows that the icportof the state of pub lie feclinrc had not been exaggerated :

" By the naturalization bill, the tot ch of

Canadian independence has been kindled,

and has sent forth a blaze of light which is visible from one extremity of the province to the other. The effect is tremen

dous ; as well might the secret agents of

corruption attempt to veil the sun in its

meridian, as to hide it. Petitions are get

tincr up, in all directions against the bill,

and thousands are signing. On Young

street, we hear, the whole mass of the

people are signing; in Niagara and the

Gore District, all, we hear, who are not

quitting the country in disgust, will sign ;

in parts of the district ot Newcastle they arc almost in a state of distraction. A

large meeting is convened at Port Hope

on Saturday next, and there, we are in formed, the natural born subjects are c

qually exasperated and indignant against the mcaiuirc. Neater hand, in Whitby,

where a meeting was called for last Mon

tlav, they arc determined to resist it to a

man, and that to the very last extremity." Earl'j Rhing Early rising contributes Sis surely to personal beauty, as the dawn does to the beauty of the world. Shape, complexion, expression, the dignity arising from the sense of having performed a dutv, the pleasure arising iron) cheerful blood and from being prepared to give pleasure to others, all contribute to make the charmer more charming.

in the few who had taken a decided part in the revolution. This latter hint is said to have caused a newspaper war among the editors at Mexico.

Milledgeville, Ga. March 27 The low price of cotton compells our farmers to look about for some substitute whereby they may be enabled to support their families. Three substitutes are offered them sugar, silk and wine. In the low part of the state, sugar is becoming an article of extensive cultivation A friend in Early county writes Us, that last year he made 1,800 pounds of good sugar from an acre and a quarter of cowpened pine land. Counterfeits Wc have seen a Ten Dollar Note of the Bank of the United States, payable at their Branch Bank U. S. in this city. Though it is well calculated to deceive, yet, on a closer examination, there is great defect in the signature of P Bacot, in the body of the note ;

as also in his endorsement on the back of

the note, dated 19th May, 1824, letter W. payable to P. Bacot, or order ; signed

Thomas Wilson, cashier, N Biddlc, pi csident. The figures in numbering, are badly done. Bait. Guz.

Canal The water has been in the Miami Canal at Middletown, and permitted to flow to the first lock. The whole work is in such advancement, that no doubt is entertained but the water will pass from Middletown to Cincinnati.
