On the minister requiring to see the admiral's credentials, he acknowledged he had none, except a letter of instructions. On which the minis'er refused to enter into any diplomatic correspondence with him as derogatory to his government, to give any explanation to the commander ot an armed force, appearing in a hostile & threatening attitude ; but repelled the charge's of the admiral, observing, that the relation between the two govern rnents would appear from the result ol the mission which would be sent to Rio Janeiro The admiral denied that he appeared in hostility, but intimated his detet mination to keep his station to prevent their furnishing supplies to the patriots of Banda Oriental, The Indians have recently made ano ther infu sion into the province of Buenos Ave, but had been defea'ed with considerable loss. Several vessels with emig'ants for agricultural and mining pur oscs, had arrived at Buenos Ayres, fr. fi Eflglpnd. A company of merchants had applied lor a charter and privileges to enlarge the port of Enseuada, to make aitjviqrable canal from thence to the city of Buenos yrcs. and to construct a dock.
