expected, after the late events, the fer mentation still continues, among the Jannissat ies ; and it is of a nature to excite the most serious alarms. From Ortas, in which the most violent degree of insubordination had appeared, have received orders to march to Thessalyj there to tnake part of a corps opposed to the Greeks; but they have positively and unanitnousty refused. 4 We will not march (said the Janmssaries) till the heads of three of the sultan's ministers have been delivered to us.' The grand vizier, and the pacha of Bujukdere, have concerted measures to prevent a new explosion. Some more chiefs of the insurrection have been arrested, &

secretly executed. There are various re

ports in circulation, relative to the late Grand vizier, Ghalib Pacha, but it seems

difficult to believe in his rccal, though it

is desired by a very numerous party. His

moderate system could not support itself

in the critical circumstances in which the

Greece. The Uritish cutter Nimble, from London, w'r.h the second instalment of the Greek loan, has arrived at Napoli dc Romania. The money contributed in this country for the Greeks, was forwarded from London by this vessel, and has safely reached its destination. The fleet of the pacha of Egypt, consisting of 59 sail, had landed 6 )00 men near Navarin ; but they were repulsed, and driven back to Motion. A Greek fleet it was expected, would attack the Egyptian on the following day. Great Invention. Mr. Joseph Dell, is building in this town, a boat which he intctuU to propel by lever power. It is now nearly completed, and he expects to put it i ti operation in the course of the ensu ing week. The machinery is very simple, and the ma mat force required to voi k it, will not exceed that of lour persons. Mr. Bell is perfectly confident that this attempt of his to apply the lever power to boats, with great advantage, will tie successful, and that he can propel them with much greater rapidity than is done by steam No person has ever yet succeeded in making this application, al though there can be no doubt of the correctness of the principle Should Mr. Bell cfTect his object, it will be one of the greatest achievements of the present age, will entirely explode the use of steam boats, as the lhor and expense, to put

boats on this plan into operation, arc in

S situated on a beautiful Biuff on the southeast side of the Wabash river,

one mile above the mouth ol Wild cat Creek, and four below the mouth of the Tippecanoe river. No town in the State of Indiana, can anticipate gi cater prospects, considering its local situation, and natural advantages. Lying at the head of steam boat navigation, or as near that point as any eligible situation for a town can be had no other site presents itself between that and the mouth of Tippecanoe; it lies nearly in a direct line from Detroit, via Fort Wayne to St. Lou is, and nearly so, between the South end of Lake Michigan and Indianapolis. There is no doubt but a great intercourse will soon be opened between those places, and this will be the point of intersection.
