THE WESTERN SUN. FIJYCFsWES, my 77825. The foil nving is the superscription on a letter which passed through the Post-Office at this place: "Go letter go! swift as the wind e'er blew, Through Illinois and Indiana too. Till John Briuh-y of Middletown tliou've found Kentucky state, id est, the bloody ground." A communication from Gen. V. Johnftton, is unavoidably crowded out of this day's paper I will endeavour to make room for him next week. The Indianapolis paper says, that Dennis Pennington, is a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, at the next August clection. By the information recently received, it appears the .Yations guest, will not touch at this place on his tour through the states Some citizens of this place will meet him at Jeflcrsonvillc, at which point he will be received by the governor, on the part of the state It is expected that he will arrive there between the 10th and the 15th of this inst. COMMUNICATION. Distressing Occident. Some weeks since, an orphan boy of Mrs. Lemon, of Dubois county, had his hand caught in the saws of a cotton gin, his hand and arm were lacerated in a most shocking manner, the flesh was literally torn from the bones The mangled limb was amputated by Dr. Tourielht of Petersburg!!, who
by his prolcssional skill, and kind attention on the occasion, has endeared himself to a large circle of friends. F. Extract cf a letter from the Hon Thomas It. Denton, dated Senate Chamber, Februaay 10, 1825. 'Between Gen, Jackson r.nd Mr. Adams, I was in favor of the General's election, believing that he was preferred, ten to one, by the people of Missouri, and knowing, from an association of two winters with him in the Senate, that he would expel the Biitish from the Upper Missouri, and protect our fur trade; that he would expel them also from the Columbia River, and protect our lights and .interests beyond the Rorky Mountains; that he was in favor of giving us a road to Mexico, and preventing the Indians from robbing and muidering our citizens, while travelling it; that he would send a military post to the crossing of the Arkansas, and endeavor to remove the boundary line between the United Stales and Mexico, back to its old place, on the dividing ridge, between the waters of the Mississippi, and of the Rio del Norte; also, that he was in favor of clearing our rivers from all obstructions to their navigation, connecting them, by canals, with the northern lakes, opening an inland communication between the Lower Mississippi, Lake Ponchartrain, the bays of Mobile, Pensacola, St. Marks, and across the peninsula of Florida to the Atlantic ocean."
