About the first of August the express arrived at Council Bluffs, Composed of 26 Spaniards and christianiz Indians, and accompanied by an American (formerly of St. Louis) named Beard, as a gtiide. As soon as practica ble the Indians were assembled, and in a council, mj. O'FaUon explained, with much earncstnes, the great necessiiy of bur ing the tomhawk with their Mexican neighbors that he was instructed by his government, to remonstrate spiritedly apuiust their depredations, and insist upon an immediate cessation of hostilities a gainst our friends the Spaniards. It is therefore on motiori ordered by the court that the said commissioners be empowered to sell the same, upon such a credit as they may think proper, by giving three yceks previous notice in the Western Sun a paper printed in Vincenncs, by the purchaser giving bond with security to be approved of by said commissioners.
