GOLD AND SILVER MINES A leltcr Irom a gentleman in Park cou ty, Indiana, to his fried in this county, contains the following: It was told nit yesterday, that thete had just b:cn dis covered in this county, an extensive bod of gold and silvkr oiir, on land belonging to the government. The individuals who made this fortunate discovery, have departed for the purpose of entering the land Afayesville Eagle. FROM MEXICO. Philadelphia, April 1 2. "Vc have received a series ot Mexictn paper to the I 4th of March, he states of tne new Popular Federative Republic were busy in organizing their separate governments, while the general government had gone into operation. Public rejoicings had taken place, in many, parts of the country. There are manifestations of the best feeling between the 'Sovereign Congress and the Congress of the States. We remark to a long and able manifesto of the former, issued by the people, when the Federal constitution was promulgated. Reference is made in it more than once to the excellent example and unrivalled prosperity and tranquility of these United States. The cxpidition to the Rocky mountain, found on the borders of the Arkansas, near the borders of the great desert, hundreds of acres of the same kind ol v ine, -vile vimfera, which pioduces the wines of the European continent Thee vines "were growing in a wild state, and were surrounded by hillocks of sand rising to

within 12 or 1 8 inches of the end of the branches. They were loaded with the most delicious grapes, and the clusters were so closely arranged as to conceal c e y part of the st m These hillocks of sand arc produced by the agency of the vines arresting the sand as it is borne by the wind. A correspondent of the National Intelligencer states that, by inhumation obtained at the patent oiBc-, it appears that nearly a thousinl dollars have been received for patents granted within this month; and Mr. Gilbert Brewster who spent six weeks lately cxaming the various mod is, dedated, that he was astonished at the ingenuity there exhibited. Ivlr Hrewfcter also declaied, that the aid lie received at the office, by examining attui ively the machinery, has enabled him to perfect so mu-hthe art ol spinning n ())!, that he has reduced the price of spinning it to one cmt per pound. It lias never been less than eight cents before; and during the war it was 25 cents per pound. The Pope has formally refused to sane tion the re-establishment of the Inquisi tion in Spain, as being a tribunal incompatible with the present enlightened age. Nearly ail in the Islands in the West Indies, (Hayti excepted,) appear to be in a state bordering on revolt and massacre the English and French are especially agitated. The dreadful day anticipated by all, and esteemed as of certain arrival sooner or later, seems clo3e at hand Gtcat efforts, however, are making to keep down the insurrectionary spirit The free people of color, heretofore the great shield of the white population, ate supposed to be generally disaffected they arc intelligent and numerous. Roth England and France have largely added to their military forces in these islands; but there u one man who can determine tliei Fj c. Happily, he does not appear villhg to interfere with it. The B'itish Wuitor states that the E iperor Alexander had determined to transcribe seat of his government from St. Petersburg!! to Moscow, and that his imperial Majesty had signified his imcn tion never more to reside at the former city! Should this resolution be carried into effect, there can be little doubt that v is connected with some political icws upon Turkey, as the disnce from loscow to the Turkish frontier is trifling, in comparison with that from St. Petersburgh.
