i or instance, the. new road horn 'mcenncs to Ten e Haute as now marked would lequiiean appropriation of more of the peoples money to render it even passable one half the year, than would in
my opinio be sufficient to clear a good channel for the same distance in the Wabash river. This is the opinion of the people generally acquainted with the ground over which the road js carried. In progressing with the road from Emlson's mill, to Carlisle, it runs through quagmires, quick -sands and swamps 'a considerable part of the way- and from Mcrom to Terre-IIaute, they have taken a route ih rough the swamps near Gordon Town, which the whole sum appropriated on the road from Evansvillc to Terrc Haute would not be adequate to make a good road ; indeed in the opinion of some intelligent citizens one hundred thousand dollars would nnt hr
enough to finish a passable, dry road from Mr. Emison's to f en g Haute ti e route this new road is marked. I will not charge the legislators who passed the act with wilfully abusing their trust. nor shall I charge the reviewers with being influenced by their own or th-ir friends interests in taking the road the way they have, but I cannot at the same time as a citizen whose rights and freedom are guaranteed to him, refrain from expressing most unequivocally niv displeasure with each I am respectfully your obedient crv't. LATE FROM CARRACCAS. Our very attentive and obliging correspondents al lguira and Carraccas hive forwarded us with their usual promptitude, a variety of papers S;c. by the Ringer arrived at New -York. We hasten to lay before our readers the following from La Guayra, dated Apiil 22, (and the following from the same place) dated Aptil 2 Also the subsequent from Carraccas, under date of April 2 8 : L Guayra, April 22, 822. The disturbances in Ireland continue There had been numerous arrests and executions. The insurrection law hand been put in force An act had been passed, the object of which was said to be to disirm the Irish, and to prevent them from obtaining arms. The London Sun recommends to the French Government to confiscate all Napoleon's property in France, and bestow it oi! the emigrants It adds, that the house of Baring St Co. has a considerable amount of his property, with which the French authorities cannot
meddle. The Freeman's Journal tells us. that

The effect of conviction in such a case, in New-York, is a general disqualification to hold any office of trust, honour, or profit, under the stale, with loss of the elective franchise as an inhabitant of the state Unim.
