An .lisGciate Judge, three county Commissioners, two members to the House of Representatives, ntid one member to the Semite, are to be elrcted in August next, and as there never has been a time when a judicious choice was more incumbent on the people, we hope the matters of immense importance appertaining to these offices, will be maturely weighed bv them before they give their suffrages. With another good Associate, like the present one, who has h id no 'hink rig concerns, our bench will be safe ami it is high time the subject should be considered. The county of Knox, the oldest in the state must not be lost or degraded she has honest and intelligent citizens enough to renovate her character, and let them recollect it is their duty to do so.

THREE DAYS L ; ER FRONY.XWDtN. To our very vigilant roi respondent at Hoston, we arc indebted for a oro'f sheet containing extracts from Loo Ion papers to the SXh of March, ..ml Lloyd's i?t cf thc 22d of the same month. It wil' be seen that the Austrian bulletin of hc first battle fought in Itrdv, chimn a m-n. plete icforv over thc Nr mohtv ivtnv, Thc London paper- of March 25th, contains an extract ft 'om tlie fi't An trian bulletin, Riving an account of t; e affair at Reiti. I enclose it Lovnov. Tvrh 5. AUSTRI AN HUE' F.TIN We last niy;ht received the T'ais pipers of Thursday bv express. Tlie Monitpur chives the following a- an extract from the first bulletin of the Austrian rmv : tlGen. Pepe had several dav since collected the greater part of ,i f rces between Civita Oucule and qnila. On the 7th, he advanced w'v.h a body of 10. 000 men upon Rieti. Two cohir of this corps manouvred o;i th heights which from the val'cv of R e i, and threatened to turn our' ath anr d ;uarc, which was poMcd there under thc onlei i of general Gepprt, w'dUt a third rolutnn maved straight forward nnthcroid from Civita Ducale to Rieti. These movemnta were judiciously conducted

and the points of attack well chosen. Our light troops suffet eel themselves to be approached, not yet believing that they were enemies who were inarching towards them. We had exprcssed'to them only words of peace. A very brisk fire soon convinced us that we had mistaken their character. The battle then commenced ; it was near the houi of noon ; thc enemy's attack became serious. And licut. general Walmoden, ordered his reserve, which was at Casa Vicentini, in the rear of Rieti, to match t the support of Gen. Gepp -rt. He directed an attack with a very inferior force, upon the two columns which formed the enemy's wing, and they wero diiven back into the mountains, notwithstanding all the advantages of the ground being in their favour, thc centre column fell back upon Civita Ducale. "The enemy abandoned that city at ten o'clock at night, after having pillaged it. Our advance guard immediately occupied it, and our soldieis were received as deliverers 'Wc lost in this action about 59 men killed and wounded. Capt. Schmidt, of the 7th battalion of chesscurs, was killed. Captain Pfield, of the hussars of the King of England, and Lieut. Braun, of the 1st battalion of chasseurs, were wounded. "During the battle of Rieti, a body of 3000 men that had assembled at Leonessa, advanced upon Pie-di-Lugo, and attacked Colonel Schneider, who was posted thee. He r pulsed them with the loss of sveral killed or wounded In the course of the day we took several prisoners, and among them a Captain of Gen. Pepe's staff. On the subject of the above affair, the minor journals supply us with a private letter from Terni, which adds nothing material to the official account, except that the Austrian took one piece of artillerv and two tumbi :1s Advices had reached Paris from Turin, dated on the 15th in thc evening. I fie most perfect tranquility then prevailed in that capital. At that date, they were still without any account from Genoa of tlie effect produced there b) the recent events The Provisional Junta had met, and entcifd upon their new functions On W alnesd.iy evening Prince TalIpvrand had a private audience of Louis XV' II and at nine at night hi Majesty vi ded by the Duke Dtcazes. desday last, by order, it is pretended, of M. Roy, tlie ...inister of Finance. 4 i here was on tlie 7vti inst a.i engage merit between thc vustrians and Ncapoliians. The latter had advanced on Reiti, which was occupied by tht Austrians i hey were repulsed with considc i able loss. The Austrian at my has enteied the Abrusii. Many prisoners Iiave fallen into their hands, and the greatest disorder appears to reign in the Neapolitan army." London, March 20. SECOND LDl J ION. A gentleman is just arrived from Paris, who lias furnished us with some interesting particulars respecting the political agitation in that Capital, although he does not bring any news of a later date than that which wc had just before received by express. He describes the ferment upon thc stock Exchange as most striking, ai d mentions that but for a large sum of money, thrown in by the agent of tlie French Government, thc fundi would have fallen four or five pgr cent, lower than the price quoted. The report of an insurrection at Lyons was credited in the Capital ; but well informed men ascribe it to an invention of the Liberals, in order to feel tlie public pulse. No account had been received in Paris of the rumoured levolt of tho Poies : but Iettcis from Rom confirm the account which we had pieviously received of tnc dreadful alarm vhiclifEN vailed in that city. The coffee housei of Paris are thronged with politiciarfitA and songs are sung to thc revolutionary tunes in favour of the Neapolitans, but the Government have made no arrests. English families were arriving from Italy every hour, and all the English holders of French S ocks were pressing it forward for sale : it was apprelu nhed that it would be much lower on the 18th ; but persons veiscdin the mystery assert, that as confidence exists chiefly in England, and next in France, the French Funds are likely to recover, a the stock now vested in the Foreign Fund of agitated countries must be transferred to the two leading powers, France and England. General Donnadieu's motion in the Chamber of Deputies respecting thc Ministers, led to a very hot altercation, and he was loudly cheered by thc Cutar, of both sides. Decazes is spoken of at .Minister, hut Donadieu has declared that he will divide the Chamber over and o vcr again, and appeal in every possible way to the p-.oplc, rathwr than submit to see France governed by that Jacobin.
