The annual rcfizrt of the Secretary of

Prraxitr:, was laid before Congress

on Monday. Its length prevents its in Scrtion in this evening's paper. In order, however, to satisfy the anxiety which is so generally entertained, respecting the actual state of the firca1 Concerns of the nation, we have extracted some of the most important interesting items. The revenue during the present year, is estimated at rather more than dols 20,000,000. (including the late loan ;) v.hich, with the balance in the Treasury at the commencement of the year, make the means of the Treasury, for the year

1823, exceed do!. 2 2,3 )0.000. The expenditure during the same period, is estimated at nearly dollars 25.TJOOJOO. There will, therefore, he a deficiency at the en 1 of the present year, of upwards of dols, 2,600,000. For the cmuing year, the revenue is estimated at dols. 16,550,000 ; and the expenditures at dols. 21,360,000; so that the deficiency, including that of the present year will be dols 7,100,000, at the end of the year 1811.

For the years 132:, 1923 and 1324, thc

revenue n cstimited, upon data, which the Secretary explains, at dols 20,000,000 and the expenditure at dols. 16.750,000. --Hence the revenue will exceed the expenditure in each of those years by dols. 3,250,( OO--In the latter year this favorable excess will be greater, as the annual million for the increaae of the navy will not be required. The excess of revenue in the years 13S2, 23 and 24, it is estimated by the Secretary, will more than make up the deficiency in the years 1820 and 21. For the year IS25, and subsequently, the annual expenditure, including 10 b00,000 doll, for the sublic debt, will be 20,270,000 ? doll, and the revenue will be 20,ooo.000, doll so that after the year 1824, there will be a deficiency of doll 570,000 a year To supply the deficiency of 1P20 and 1821, the Secretary recommends a loan at 6 per cent redeemable at the will of the government.

For reasons stated by the Secretary,

he does not think it advisable to resort to taxation. He suggests however, in cae Conrress should deem such a reSort necessary to meet the present or any future deficiency, that the importation of foreign spirits be prohibited, and that the amount which may be required be raised by a tax upon the distilation and eale of domestic spiritv Hut, as a preliminary to internal taxation, and with a view to supply a sou'-d currency in those states where it is deli ricnt. the Secretary propones that th hills of the branches of the Hank United

sideration at this session, and receive that

approbation from the house which he tho't it merited. The following is a copy of the resolution moved by Mr.

Smith : Resolved, by the Senate
