PROPOSALS FOR PUBLISHING BY SUBSCRIPTION THE SECOND EDITION OF THE GEOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES OF THE WESTERN COUNTRY, Being the result of the travels, extensive researches and remarks of EDMUND DANA,
who was commissioned as agent, to explore and select from the Public Lands, the most eligible situations for AGRICULTURE $ COMMERCE, with a view to make locations and purchases. The curious and interesting facts collected by the author, in surveying these rude scenes of Nature, so lately the haunt of the untutored Savage, have accumulated to the size of two volumes. This work is intended as a guide to emigrants, who are seeking how to better their condition by traversing sea and land thousands of miles, to gain a new home, where a more temperate climate and fertile soil, confers health and plenty Also, for schools. The intention of the author, in the first volume, is to give a general view of the whole western country, from the Allegheny Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Also will be added the Census for 1820 of the United States and territories, a nd the latitudes of each slate.
