JL a boy, and late a Mail-Carrier on tho route from Russelsviile to Montana field, (Ky ) Said Stephens robbed the Mail on Sunday the 14ih of May, on his route to the former place; a bout 4 miles -from the latter ; and on Wednesday the 17th, "on his return from Russelville to Morganheld, about 8 miles below Greenville. His depredations arc-supposed to have been extensive and frequent. - His robberies were committed without injury to the niail-ba:;s, by drawing the letter packets thro' between the holes on the mouth thereof. Many mutilated letters, and some entire post-bills and wrappers have been found ; some of which are in the possession of Mr. Weir, P. M. at Greenville, (Ky.) When the above letters were brought to Mr. Weir, he despatched two gentlemen in pursuit of the rubber. They arrested him on Saturday night, the 20th u!t. at Morganfield, whence he made his escape from them the next morning (Sunday.) 1 have since been in pursuit of him, and am inclined to believe he has gone down the river towards New-Orleans. The father, who resides in Madisonviile, Kv. went after his son the witli them, lie iormerlv rode on the route tro?n Hopkmsville to Henderson, Ky. and is well known at the latter place and on the road to Madisonville. He has been heard to tell his parents that he would runaway to Orleans, and thence proceed to sea. The said James Stephens is about 4 feet 9 inches high, said to be under 14 years of age, rather stout and full in Ins person, hair light, eyes blue, face round, full and freckled. HU appearance is good. He is said to be much addicted to lying, and to pos scss an uncommon snare of art and cunning for such a youth. He had on when he escaped, a black hat and shoes, a short coat of pale mixed domestic blue and white, and twilled pantaloons of the same colour. Tlie two latter articles were recently purchased new at Morganfield, with money robbed from the mail. It is probable he will change his name and apparel. The subscriber will pay the above reward for his apprehension and conviction. A B. LINDSLEY, Agent Grn. P.
