sickening picture of Riittn Hiringis

in England, in the extract below :

A place called the Lower Hamlets,

near London, which pays more taxes

by several thousand pounds than the county of Cornwall, sends no member

to the House of Commons : while the

said county sends 44 members.

Eighty Rotten Boroughs, whose e-

lectors do not exceeil one hundred

sixty members ; while Westminster

md London, the Queen of t'ommercc, the most opuient ci'y in the

at the exei tions the people of Lowland ae making, to bring back the

doctrine, that representation and tax

ation should go united m hand togeth ther.

The Debate on the Missouri question has at length commenced in the Senate of the United States. The disc ussion has been In ought on incidentally to the bill for the admission of Maine into the Union, it having been proposed, by way of amendment, to incorporate in the same bill a pro vision for the ad mission of Missouri into the Union, divested of the condition by which it has been proposed to exclude Slavery from the state to be erected in that territory. This question absorbs so much attention, that, until it is definitively settled, it may almost be said, no other business will bs done in Congress. It was nell observed on this head yesterday, by Mr. ,lf'cotf, that the appearance of the Senate Chamber attested the importance oT the question actually depending. Never were the galiiries and lobbies more crowded. Lhe Debate w ill of course be reported ; and the publication of it will be commencd in this paper on Tuesday next. Xit. intfl!:gcncrr.
