200 Dollars UK WARD. AX A WAY from the plantation Xi vL'jf th subscriber, in Summer eouniyTcn.) about the 25th of August last, two slaves ; a Negro Feliow and Mulatto Boy. The follow turned JOHN, about 33 years eld, five feet o or 7 inches hio, his colour ci the deepest shade of African nej:ecs, his visage narrower, and nose more prominent than is common to negroes, walks brisk, and leans a little forward, has an effeminate voice, atfects great humility, and makes high professions of religion, when in reality he is destitute of every thing like ti ne religion, and is very impudent for a slave. After a short acquaintance U very talkative, Sc his language
and conversation better than negroes generally make use of. Upen the whole he may be considered an aitful, cunninx fcllo'v of his kind ; and for his misconduct has had his back well scared with whipping. The boy named ELLICK, about 13 or 14 years o:d, well grown and stout made, his colour that of a bright mulatto, though his hair indicates him to be more than half negro, lias gray or hazle colom c 1 eyes, has a large mouth, and when he laughs his countenance rather bes peaks innocence, has little or no ca pacity, and never tells the truth on any occasion ; it is believed he has a small scar or two on the side or back part of his head, and also a mark on the out side of one of his thigs from the colour being lighter than the surrounding part? ; he can play tolerable well on the fife, had on when he went ofT. a white rorum hat about half worn It is believed they are together, and from report had procured a pass from some base person purporting them to be free, and it is suspected that they have endeavored, and perhaps before this, have reached the state of Ohio or some other state where slavery is not tolerated. No certain intelligence of them has been received since they ranawav. Information has been had of two such together with a white boy crossing the Ohio at Fiynn's, ferry and that they were unable to pay their ferriage. It mav be that this -white bov was conducting them off, for its carcely probable that unless they got in with some travelers who werei traveling to Missouri Territory, or; some of the states on the north-west! side of the Ohio, or were taken off and conducted awav bv some villian. that they could have escaped without hearing of them, especially as they took no clothing that w as known, except what they had on. and such as staves usually wear, and not such ? would induce any person to believe they were free.- The shove rcnanljj will oc given to a-y person wno win., apprehend and secure said slaves sol; that I can get them, or one half of , said reward for either.
