"WHEREAS, by an act of Con?7 ress, passed on the 3d day of Maicn, 1815, entitled " An act to provide for the ascertaining and surveying of the boundary lines fixed by the treaty with the Creek Indians, and for other purposes," the president of the U tilted States is authorised to cause the lands acquired by the said treaty to be offered for silc, when surveyed: Therefore, I, James Monroe, Pre sident ot the United States, do hereby declare and make known, that public males for the disposal (agreeably to law) of certain lands in the Alabama territory, shall be held at Cahaba, in the said territory on the second Monday in January next, and shall continue open three weeks, during which time shall be offered for sale Townships 5, 6, 7, 8, 19,20, 2 I. 22, and 23, in range 5 fi, 7, 19, 20, St 2 1, in do. 6 17 and 19 17 and 18 17, 18, 19, 8c 20, 21 and 22, in do. 7 in do. 8 in do 9 in do. Whereas, by several acts of Congress, the President of the United Slates is authorised to cause to be offered for bale the public lands in Illinois : Therefore, I, James Monroe, President ot the United States, do hereby declare and make known, that there will be offered at public sale, at Shawneetown in the Illinois Territory, ttte following townships and fractional townships, north of the base line, viz : On the firrt Monday of December next, Townsnips 1 to 4, in range 1 E. of the 3d principal meridian. Townships 1 to 6 in range 2, do. 1 to 7, do. 3, do. 1 to 7, do. 4, do. On the first Monday of February next, Townships 1 to 7, in ranges 5, and 6 E. of the 3d principal meridian. Townships 2 to 7, in range 7, E. 3 to 5, do 8, do On the first Monday of April next, Townships I to 5 in ranges 9, 10, and 1 1, E. of the 3d principal meridian. Townships 1 to 4, in range 14, W. of the 2d principal Meridian. Townships 2 to 7, in range 13, do 5 to 7, in range 12, do. Except such lands as have been, or shall be reserved by law for the schools or fr other purposes, the lands ihuli be offered in regular numerical order, commencing with the owest number of section, township, end range; and each sale shall continue three weeks and no longer.
