FELLO V CITIZENS it is with fto snail degree of reluctance that I once more obtrude myself ujon the notice of the public ; ami I had hoped when clofcing my hst, thai Should not be attain forced to the necessity of another newspaper Communication. Circumstances h iw however again induced me to ad 6 est you. Seeing a publication In the Western Su signed by Homer Johnson and Samuel mmison, in which I am rhyr :( hed with knowingly making false ItaWmenta to the pubiic. To Homer Johnson my answer is givfl. Unfortur ttelj for Mr. JohnsCAi the inhabitants of VtncCnnts are but too well acquainted with the reason for my protest, and a more Convincing proof of ita coi rectriess your altering the survey since, and your frequent statements to different per s in a that your needle varied, also remarking that had you attended to the whole oi t ie first Aurvev yourself, that you Would lOt have had it to alter Now if it was correct when I jcave my protest to the public, where was the necessity of altering the first survey ? All these circumstances will show the public thatvou have signed your name to a publication, proving it at the same time to be untrue. oka me ! shame ! ! by giving the public your name to injure )V the innocent, knowing at the same time, so far as regards my protest, your publication was untrue. If proof is Wanting of Mr. Johnson's altei int the. first survey since my potest there are a number of the inhabitants oi Vinccnnes who are willing to attest 'it As regards my Statement of the proposals for surveyir the commons vou are in t e same manner to be pitied ; for believe you were the dupe of false impressions made by one who hoped thereby to evade through vou. that cenlUfe 00 him thtt Wis given in my answer to the trustees of the BofOUgh in thier remarks on mv protest, as the fol

paovocateo your getting the job ot surveying the commons, he made such a Verbal statement as vou had authorised A it regards that statement; vou ar Incorrect ; for the first thing he stated to the Board was that as vou had made i sacrifice in the surveying of the Bo fough, that the Board were now empowered to remunerate vou by the survey of the '"ommons. But his oratory was rot suTicu n , as vou nill see by referc ice to the minutes of the Hoard on that day He then extolled your talents, and then made your verbal offer ; but the B 'i d did not think proper to accept it.
