NORFOLK, September 11. ne' ship Manhattan, cap1. Freeman, 9 rkvsftom Buenos Ayres, passed up theHaiy on Saturday last, bound to Baltimore Cat)tti& Freeman has politely t: ansmitte 1 us a file of Buenos Ayres papers to June 27. They give, however, rio further derails of the operations of the Independent forces, than we have already seen, except what is contained in the following ofa' ial dispatches from Chili. Iom these it ill be seen that the remrnnt of the Spanish army which escaped after the memorable battle of Maipo, has been taken by a detachment of the patriots. Wi regard it as not the taast interesting incident of tbe long and arduous f tn.ggle in South America, that the coniinj; parties have it in contemplation o afoot tlie usages of civilized warfare, t , consenting to exchange their piisoners. The patriots first made the proportion to that efFect, but the Spanish vice Tov, proud of his strength, and confident of victory, treated the application with cold hagl ct. The battle of Maipo, however has given a different turn to his sentiments. We now find him applying to thfc Independent government to effect the
f3imc objett. We are pleased to find that our gallant countryman, capt. Riddle, of the sloop of war Ontario, has aff red every facility in his power towards the accomplishment of this desirable purpose. SOU Hl-AMERICA. We understand from a gentleman just from St. Mary's, that the commissioners have concluded a treaty wit ii the Indian! for all their lands In Ohio, except the reservations made at the former treaty which the Indians still adhered to, but have agreed not to sell them to any purchaser hut the United States. The treaty fin-the lands in Indiana is not yet concluded. The Delaware Indians had not arrived when our informant left St. Mary but it had been ascertained that they were on the way, (Jin. Gaz. A half of a quarter section as a town site, brought 8157, the other, S251. Nashville clarion. It may be recollected that several months since, two of our countrymen induced a number of Indians to accompany them to Europe. A 'njon paper mentions the introduction of tltose people upon the stage at the Enfli Opera, in their native costume where they exhibited their national dances, war-songs, & other ceremonies We presume these "wild men" will receive a full share of public attention wherever they may go and we have no doubt that the Jonathans who have them in keeping, vs ill fill their pockets at the expense of honest J- fin Bull.

IWSTO.Y, Sept. 2. Very numerous arrivals from Europe arl Asia have furnished accounts to late dates but thev do not announce any very important events. Centinel. The late sanguinary war in Asia was approximating a close, with its usual concomitants, an immense increase of the already over-grown sway and resources of the British in the ffindoostans. The preparations for the rreetintr" of the Congress of Sovereigns were nearly completed. It was certain that the Monirths WOttld take their prime Ministers with them.
