Whereas, by an act of Congress passed on the 3d day of March,l8l5. entitled an act to provide for the ascertaining and surveying of the boundary lines fixed by the treaty with the Creek Indians, iSjad for other purposes," the President of the United States is authorised to cause the lands, acquired by the said treaty, to be offered for sale when surveyed : Therefore I James Monhot., President of the United States, do hereby declarc and make known, that pubiick sales for the disposal (agreeably to law) of certain lands in the Alabama territoiy, shall be held at Cahaba, in the said territoiy, on the first Monday in January next, and shall be continued for three weeks, during which time will be offered for sale Townships number'd 9 to 16 inclusive in range 5 yw 9 to 16 In 6 T 10 to 16 in 7 10 to 16 in 8 except such lands as have been reserved by law for the support ot schools, and for other purposes. The land shall be offer ed for sale in regular numerical order, commencing with the lowest number of section, township and range.
