The settlement in the vicinity of this piace is yet in iis infant! y, owing in a great measure to the want of Mills and some little disturbances with the Indians, since the termination ot tne V'ar It is however increasing very last and soon will be able to surmount these difficulties, and should the emigration to this country be ccpial to w .at is anticipated, this part of the country will soon become very populous There is no other scite for a town on the western bnk of the Wabash from the boundary lii.e to near the center of the elev nth township a space of about 30 miles ; this circumstance together with the fertility of the soil, for a great distance, westwardly of the river ; and the prospect of a populous settlement, render this place a onject worthy the attention of those who may wish to become purchasers of :o .n property. A few lots are set apart by the proprietors, and arc intended to be given as dona ions to individuals who may wish to become actual settlers previous to the day of sale.
