They have m ny acres planted with the vine 4200 in wheat, 40 in rey, 30 in bmi ley 30 in oats, 50 with meadow grass, and 500 enclosed in pasture fields All these things have been done in three years. This society is numerous, amounting, we believe to nearly 30o famines who have ail tniogs in common ; are among the most industrious and economical people in the world, and very harmless and inoffensive. The first body of them emigrating from Germany, settled in Pennsylvania in 1803 4. '1 hey then consisted of 16j families and were soon after joined by 90 families more. Baltmore, Oct. 4. We learn that Powder Mi. is on Jonea Fails about 7 miles from t his city, belonging to the Messrs. Leverings and others, were blow up this morning about 1 o'clock- The shocks caused by the explosions three in succession, were distinctly perceived in this city. It is stated that three houses were entirely destroyed, and upwards of 200 casks of powder ; the roof of another house, used as a magazine, and containing a laiae quantity of powder, was blown off but providentially the fire did not reach the powder. Wc regret to add, that after this dreadful explosion three men were tound dead, one other whose body has been found is supposed to have been destroyed and four men were severly wounded ewsdro: Sept 30. Explosion' About oneo'ciock on Friday morning last, the incorborating bunding atta ned to the Orange powderworks situated about three miles from this village, owned by sa Tavlorand'Co took fire front, fraction and was blown up.
