Nassau in a short passage from England with intelligence that Bonaparte had been
set at liberty by an order from thu British government, and that he had s ailed from the island of St. Helena for Malta. Fudge. Ibid. Amelia Island. By the arrival yesterday, of the ship White Oak, from St. Mary's, we learn that the people of East Florida, were in a constant state of alarm Intelligence had been received that it was the intention of the patriotic privateers to take possession of the Island of Amelia. A number of families had fled to St. Mary's for safety. It was reported that Sir Gregor M'Gregor, who was at Charleston recruiting men, was to command t expedition. In addition to the above? the Charleston papers, received by yesterday's mail, contains the following : Important. A letter from St. Mary's dated on Sunday last, 1 4th inst. says There are 4 large Carthagenian vessels now oft Amelia Island ; several families have removed to this place in consequence. We are all anxious to know their ob ject Ibid. BUFFALO, May 20. The season which promised us so much, we fear is taking a turn similar to the last. Nearly every morning for a week past, the ground has been covered v. ith frost. Sacketts Harbor. Matt 20. A number of British troops stationed at Kingston, U.
