To enable all perfons comprehended by tbe provifmns of the faid aft to avail thcmfelves of the relief intei ded to be granted, the Secretary for the Department of War has directed, that in cafe of Military Land Warrants, which have been loft or deftroyed, the party fhall, upon oath in writing, ftate the time, place and manner of fuch lofs or deftrudtion, the date and number of the Warrant, and the company and regiment to which thefoldier belopged at the time of his difharge ; and alfo the ftate, county and townfhip in which he ref.des. The oath muft be made before an officer duly quahfied to adminifter it, Sc the official charader and fignature of fuch officer muft be certified by the Cleikof the County, the Mayor of the City, or by fuch other officer as is required by the laws and ufages of the ftate where it is made. Every application will be advertifed one month in the papers of the ftate, where the applicant refidcs, before any decifion will be made in the cafe by the Secretary of the Department. Evidence in corraboration of that of the party, will be required, where it is not fatistactorily fl,0wn to be out of his power to prodnce it.
