And in like manner to caufe the Grant Ifland," lying at the toot of the rapids, in the faid river, to be fuiveyed, and, by lines, running north and fouth, to divide the fame, as nearly as may be, into fix equ! parts that is to fay, that part of the faid ifl md, defcribed in the furvey of the faid ceffion as lying in townfhip numbers 3, in 4 parts ; and that part of the faid iflind lying in townfhip number 4, in four parts ; Provided, That in running the fob divifional li-:es no interference fhall be made affecting or impairing rights of perfons to whom letters patent have been granted for land lying within the limits of the faid 12 miles fquare, nor aflfefting the felcion or location hereafter to be made under the direction of the ferret try of war, for military piupofes : Provided also. That in no cafe (hall the fuhdivilional lines be fo run as to extend to, or embrace, the bed of the river, which fliall be deemed and is hereby declared to be a public highway. And provided also, That the whole expence of re furveying and marking the exterior lines of the faid ceffion and of the fubdivilional lines ot the ferfions, lying adjacent to the river, (ball not exceed 3 dollars for every mile actually furveyed, are furveyed, and marked, by virtue of this and the preceeding tcdlion. Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That all the land contained within the aforefaid ceffion of 12 miles fquare, not excepted by virtue of any fedtion of this act, Hull, with the exception of number 16, which (lull he referved in each townfliip for the fupport of fchools rithin the fame, and with the exception alfo of fait fprings & land referved for the ufe of the fame, he offered for fale to the higheil binder, at Woofter in the ftate of Ohio, under the direction of the regfilter and receiver of the land ffir e, and on fuch day or days as (h-dl, by a public proclamation of the Prefident of the U- States be defignated for that purpofe. The fale for the quieter fections, fraction quarter fections, and of the town lots and out lots, (hall remain open at Woofter for 7 days. Sc r.o longer. The quarter lections, 8c fnc tional quarter fret ions, (hall not be fold for efs than 2 dollars an acre ; the inlots for lefs than 20 dollars each, nor any out lot for Ir fs than at the rate of 5 dollars per arte; and (hall, in every other refpect, be fold on the fjme terms and conditions as have been or may be, by law, provided for the land, fold north of the river Ohio, and abov the mouth of the Kntu(kv River. All the lnds, other thin the referved fections and thofe excepted as above mentioned, remaining unfold at the clofing of the public fales, may be disposed of at private fale by the regifter of the land office, at Woofer, agreeably to the provifi ms of this act, and in the f-me manner, under the fame regulations and conditions as are, or may be provided by lw, for the fale of the lands of the U. States, north of the Ohio River, and a hove the m uth of K"ntu ky River.
