The last mail furnished us with nothing new, the post rider not being able to cross the Ohio, -- this must account for the barrenness of this days' paper. OBITUARY. "Why should we mourn departing friends or shake at death's alarms', 'Tis but the voice that Jesus sends, To calls us to his arms." Died on Saturday the 9th inst. after a short illness, Mr. John Martin, ages 63 years -- he was among the first American settlers at this place, his death will be regretted by all who knew him. On Sunday evening the 11th inst. Miss Margaret Baily, daughter of Mr. John Baily, of this town. On Thursday evening, the 14th, Mrs __Beckes, consort ot Benj. Beckes, esq.

Lieutenant Daniel Suhvan is hereby promoted to the rank of Colonel, in the Indiana Militia, & appointed Adjutant General, vice John Small, religned. and he is to be refpecled and obeyed as fuch accordingly.
