BY THE PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES. WHEREAS, by the second session of the act entitled ' An act making provsion for the disposal of the Public Lands, situated between the United States military Tract, and the Connecticut reserve, and for other purposes," patssed March third, one thoufand eight hundred and feven, it is enacled, 'hiat all the lands of the United Spates, in the therein mentional diftri&s, not otherwife difpofed of, or excepted by the fuid at, fliall be offered forfale to the higheft bidder, under the direCtion of the Regifler of the Land Offict, and the Receiver of Public Clonics, at the places rcfpefctively where the Land Offices are kept, and on fuch day pr days as Ihnll by proclamation of the Prefident of the United States, be ddignated for that purpofe. AND WHEREAS, by the third feclion of the a 61 entituled, 4fc An att providing for the fale)f certain lands in the Indiana Territory, and for other purpofes," puffed April thirtieth, one thoufand eight hundred and ten, it is enacted, that from and alter the 6rit day of June, next following, the fee did principal tneredian ellabliihed by the Surveyor General, in the 'Indiana Territory, fliall be the boundary between the Diftri6t of ' Vincennes and Jefierfonville, and that the lands included in the laid dillrifcts refpeclively fhall become a part of the dillricls in which they are included. AND WHEREAS, by the iirfl feclion of the ad entituled, An act concerning the lale of the lands of the United Stales, and for other purpofes," paired, Mrch thirty lirll, one thouf .nd eight hundred and eight, it is enacted, That whenever the prtlideut of the United States, has been, or may be authorized to caufe the public lands in any land diltrict to be offered f?r &!e, it fhull be law

ful, whenever he fliall think it convenient, to offer for fale, at firft only a part of the lands contained in fuch diflricl, and at any lubfequent time, or times, to offer for sale in the fame manner, any other part, or the remainder of the land contained in the fame. WHEREFORE, I, JAMES MADISON, Prefident of the United States, in conformity with the provifionsof the aflsaforefaid, Do hereby declare and make known, that, fales for the difpofal of the following defcribed quarter sections of land, adjacent to the Old Indian Boundary Line, in the Indiana Territory, and eait of the second principal rheredian, viz.

Governor and Commander in Chief of tha Indiana Territory A PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS the circumftancesof the Territory require that the Legiflature fliould be convened, I have thought proper to appoint, and do by thefr prcfenti appoint Monday the 12th dy of November next, for the meeting of the fame and the members of the Legiflative Council, and of the Houfe of Keprefrntativei, and each and every of them, are required to give their attendance on that dy, in the Town of Vincennes accordingly. GIVEN under my hand, and the feal of the Territory, at Vincennetp this twentieth day of September L.
